superior

And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence (Col. 1:18 nkjv)."

In the the first chapter of the letter to the Colossians, the Apostle Paul gives a discourse on the superiority and preeminence of Christ in contrast with the false mysticism, secret wisdom and compromising views of Jesus' humanity and divinity creeping in the Church. Paul finished this teaching with a play on the word "mystery" demonstrating the unique miraculous power of Christ uniting Jew and Gentile in one body, the Church, as opposed to the mystery religions of Paul's day.

How does Paul respond to these precious truths? He responds as one who labors and works to get the Gospel and its truths to every one possible:

"Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. 29 To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily (Col. 1:28-29 nkjv)."

Let us also respond to Jesus by sharing our faith and doctrine with the same boldness as the early Church.
